Preview: Cambuur vs Sparta Rotterdam
Sports Mole preview Sunday’s Eredivisie clash between Cambuur and Sparta Rotterdam, including predictions, team news and possible line-ups.
Sparta Rotterdam will look to climb out of the relegation playoff spot this weekend when they travel to face Cambuur in their last Eredivisie match.
The hosts head into the match after three consecutive games without a win, while the visitors have not won a game since November.
Cambuur currently find themselves in the top half of the table after a strong start to the season, winning nine matches so far in this campaign.
However, they are winless in their previous three meetings in all competitions, suffering two defeats and then a draw, which ended their 2021 poorly.
Despite Michael Breij giving his team the lead against Heracles, they ended up being caught by a second-half equalizer, leading to a 1-1 draw in their last outing.
It was the first time Cambuur had shared points all season, as their games had been hit or miss before, which is the type of form that has served them well.
Having already scored 32 goals this season, their attacking style has worked in their favor, but they have also netted 39, which is the second-worst record in the league.
Sparta Rotterdam, on the other hand, have only managed to find the back of the net 15 times which has been a problem for them in terms of points this season.
This is one of the reasons why they find themselves in the bottom three, currently occupying the relegation playoff spot, which they hope to escape from.
A win on Sunday has the potential to do that depending on other results, but they will need an improved performance since they last met their opponents.
Cambuur ran away with a 4-0 win early in the season in a game that saw Sparta Rotterdam finish with 10 men, something they won’t want to repeat.
Still, they’ve been winless since November, which is a concern for form henk fraser, and something they’ll have to turn around before it’s too late.

Form of Sparta Rotterdam (all competitions):
Duke Schmidt will continue to serve a suspension following his red card, which Cambuur also had to deal with on his previous outing.
David Sambassa is also an injury issue for the club but apart from him they have a fit squad unless there are COVID-19 cases.
Sparta Rotterdam will have a target change for this outing due to Maduka Okoye‘s transfer to Watford, which means Rijk Janse could step in for this game.
during this time Adil Auassar is suspended for Sunday, which will exclude him, but Michael Heilen should step in and fulfill the defense role.
Possible starting composition of Cambuur:
Stevens; Bangura, Schouten, Mac-Intosch, Van Der Meer; Jacobs, Hoedemakers, Maulun; Kallon, Uldriks, Doodeman
Possible starting line-up of Sparta Rotterdam:
Janse; Pinto, Heylen, Beugelsdijk, Vriends, Masouras; Mijnans, Abels, Smeets; Van Crooy, Engels
We say: Cambuur 2-1 Sparta Rotterdam
Even though Sparta Rotterdam have drawn all three of their previous league games, they are heading into this one as underdogs due to their league positioning.
Cambuur is definitely the favorite in this one, and the goal threat he provides should be enough to secure him the three points.
