New entertainment venue to cut the ribbon in Via Port Rotterdam – The Daily Gazette

ROTTERDAM — Via Port Rotterdam’s new entertainment venue will cut the ribbon on Thursday, following a two-week soft opening that the operator described as a big success.

The local FFF is designed for (and named for) a crowd of young adult friends who eat and have fun. It offers food, drink and activities like bowling, billiards and ax throwing.

It operates in the space formerly occupied by Via Entertainment.

The local FFF targets 25- to 35-year-olds, but remains family-friendly for younger customers, marketing manager Angela Ferguson-Martins said, even with some things (like flying axes) prohibited for children.

It is the first location of The Local FFF concept created by parent company O-Town Amusements, she said. Florida-based O-Town owns three Eat and Play district restaurants in Florida and Kansas, she said. The concept and size are similar, but District Eat and Play is geared more towards elementary and middle-aged children.

The Rotterdam venue has proven popular with pool players and hosts league action almost every day of the week, Ferguson-Martins said.

Features customers may not have seen before include Futpool, a vastly enlarged pool table on which players use their feet rather than a pool cue to move the cue ball, and Giant Pong, a similar version of the classic beer drinking game.

These social games are positioned near the bar.

Other attractions at The Local FFF’s more than 30,000 square feet include bowling, karaoke, and an arcade.

The venue will cut the ribbon at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Capital Region Chamber. A weekend of special events will follow, starting with a free bingo at 4 p.m.
