James C. Wickham Sr., 97, formerly of Division Street, Amsterdam, NY, died Wednesday morning, June 16, 2021, at his home in Broadalbin, NY.
Born in Amsterdam on December 13, 1923, he was the son of the late Alden A. and Levantia L. Chadsey Wickham.
Jim was educated in the Amsterdam school system and graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School.
He was the owner of Ostwick Corporation in Amsterdam for many years, selling automotive, maintenance and cleaning supplies.
Jim was an honorably released United States Air Force veteran of World War II, serving as a sergeant with the 56th Fighter Control Squadron from 1942 to 1946.
He was a member of the Robert Lee Walsh American Legion Post 337 in Broadalbin, NY; Fulton County Antique Car Club and former member of BPOE Lodge 101 in Amsterdam.
Jim was predeceased by his wife, Ethel M. Spraker Wickham, on March 5, 2017; and a son, James C. Wickham Jr., May 22, 2020; and two sisters, Doris Miller and Helen Walters.
He is survived by one son, Alan C. Wickham (Jeannette) of Broadalbin, NY; seven grandchildren, Gayle Green, Alan C. Wickham Jr. (Terry), Scott Wickham, Thomas Wickham (Amy), Jennifer and Kim Breault and Michael and Theresa Davis; four great-granddaughters; three great-grandsons; and a great-great-grandson. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday, June 25, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, Steadwell Avenue, Amsterdam, NY.
